PegLateral walked into the House Rabbit control center. His hands and his toothknife were slick and red with rabbit blood. The final guards before the throne room itself died quickly under the fairy blades.
Stillmouth and PegLateral’s guard slowly started to cut open the throne room doors. The hot sparks from the work lit up their grim faces. Peg sighed and waited patiently as the work was completed. The doors fell to the floor with a loud crash.
The Frefairy party walked into the rabbits’ lair and saw the golden carrot throne itself. Rabban sat wide and had his hands on Jessica whose dark eyes shone with pure hatred.
PegLateral called out, “Mother. Wait for your part. I still have to fumigate this space. There are bugs in here, are there not?” He stared at the lean gray bunny sneering back at him.
Bugs said, “This is what you’re afraid of, uncle? Let me pin him down like the butterfly he is.”
Rabban offered, “The Bugs is our champion, Fairy. He will show you the strength of House Rabbit and our royal lineage.”
The lithe gray rabbit jumped in front of PegLateral. He had a red and white blade with a serrated upper edge. Bugs picked his two teeth with the blade and looked over to the fairy, “What’s up doc? You a coward like the rest of your kind? Maybe you like to hunt rabbits? Maybe you could hunt little ole me?”
PegLateral walked forward with his bright red and sticky toothblade, “Let’s add your blood to the rest of your kin that my blade tasted today. Yes, it’s rabbit season and I am very very hungry.”
The rabbit and fairy started to circle each other. PegLateral thought, “He is fast. Maybe too fast, but he is also overconfident.”
Bugs jumped a bit to the side and said, “I think it’s FAIRY season myself.” His red and white blade sliced the air between the two of them. PegLateral sidestepped a bit to avoid the serrations and they whistled by him.
The fairy flitted forward to attack and the rabbit hopped left. PegLateral noticed the bunny reach for something hidden in its fur. The rabbit tossed a cloud of powder in the fairy’s face.
Peg could feel his eyes burn in pain and his vision was blurred. “Ain’t I a stinker,” said the rabbit and Bugs slashed open PegLateral’s left wing. The purple blood streamed down to the floor.
“What a maroon!” the Bugs sneered as he moved in for another cut. Peg was just able to dodge and then his vision was replaced.
He saw millions of dark-eyed fairies flying to billions and trillions of mouths filled with Enamel. Peg felt Bugs’ knife dig deep into his stomach but the fairy did not feel any pain.
Bugs had his face close and stared into the black-on-black eyes, “I think you’re ready to be mounted.”
PegLateral looked at the rabbit and calmly said, “And you are ready to be stuffed.” The dark fairy’s blade shot upwards through Bugs’ soft palate. The rabbit’s eyes glazed over as Peg whispered into a long ear, “Kaboom.”
The fairy tossed the rabbit corpse onto the ground. He looked over at Rabban who was threatening his mother with a small pistol.
“Do not come closer, bug!” said the Rabbit.
“I am not your prince, Rabbit. Mother, now is good,” said the black-eyed fairy.
“Dear Rabbit. Please meet the gum jabbar!” said Jessica as it sliced open the large rabbit’s neck.
“Just as I saw it. Well done, Mother, but my vision fades. The darkness in my eyes and maybe the loss of blo…” said PegLateral as he fell to his knees.
He motioned for his team to come close. He needed them to see as well.
