The Pilot

Ch_000_000: The Pilot

Mastereye opened himself. He looked into the darkness. Uncountable white shipping containers floated nearby. His kin, floating eyeballs of various colors and sizes, hovered outside or moved between them. He watched, without much interest, as a shipping container overturned. The screaming stream of people and things into the void did not faze him in the slightest.

One wall of each container was transparent. Small plays performed inside each one and the eyes were transfixed on what would happen inside.

Mastereye floated down and found an open space for a new container. He picked this location so that his resources could easily see their immediate competition. The existential threat of tipping kept all the actors in each container fully committed to their performances. No one would “phone it in” when endless falling was the alternative.

Mastereye closed himself and summoned a new shipping container. There was nothing inside but a ceiling, a floor, three solid walls and a clear wall facing the eye itself.

Mastereye summoned a blank character. It was formless and awaited any amount of detail to become real.
