Ian Ellie Walking Home

Ch 10 - Ian and Ellie

Ian was on his back with his shirt unbuttoned and his full torso exposed. He was in pain from his slashed scale wound from the Icky attack. His glistening dinopod abs were covered in an attractive layer of sweat.

Ian said, “Someone should take a picture of me right now. I think this is a moment that everyone should enjoy. A perfect frozen moment in time somehow…”

Ellie said, “Hold still. I need to dress that wound.” She tried not to look too closely at Ian’s uncovered body, but it was very hard to keep her composure. She reminded herself of how she was a serious doctor and not a teenager with a crush.

Ian hissed as Ellie applied some antiseptic to his torso. The Icky had managed to slash him before the electric jeep could speed them away. He was fearful of the fact that it appeared the humans were now loose across the park. Who knows what other humans could be out and freely roaming outside of their paddocks?

Nedry was nowhere to be found and they were left with a 386 that seemed to be melting into its supporting desk. It was running some build process and the end was not coming soon. The park was completely unmoored.

Hammond ran in with his surrogate mother in tow, “Stupid Nedry! So dumb. I paid him a full $35 per hour! He was so lazy! ‘WAAAH! I NEED QA SUPPORT OR AT LEAST A SECOND DEV.’ $35! DOLLARS! AN! HOUR! Can you believe it! Some people are so lazy!”

Hammond’s caretaker, Susan, shushed the CEO and he stuck his talon into his mouth for comfort. Ian was deep in thought as Ellie daubed his forehead.

Ian offered, “I think we just need to reset everything. I’d go but I’m currently very attractive right now and would like to stay here a bit longer like this. Would you like to take a picture? Anybody? I think this is special somehow?”

Ellie blushed and said, “I already have that picture in my head, Ian,” and she giggled before regaining her composure. She wished she had a camera but nobody walked around with cameras all day. That would be silly, she thought to herself. She steeled herself for what she thought must be done.

“I’ll go reset the power at the park. That should allow the 386 to reset and the park’s systems, I hope, will restart fresh from the last good image,” she announced to the group.

Hammond perked up and asked, “Would you be willing to work here? I’d go to $50 per hour!”

Hammond’s caretaker corrected the tired CEO, “This isn’t a good time for networking. We need to focus on the problem, Johnny.”

Hammond stormed off, crossed his arms, and sat on a nearby chair, “I’m done talking!”

Ian was concerned, “Ellie, there’s wild humans running throughout the park. You need to be careful.”

Ellie smiled and said, “I’ll be back and we’ll see how the park responds after a power reset.”

Ian looked after Ellie and tried to be even more glistening somehow.
